Folding Chair

2025

Glass, steel, silver, tin, lead, aluminum tape, LED

19” x 28” x 20”

Reconstructed in glass and illuminated from within, the familiar form sheds its functional role and becomes an object that foregrounds its underlying geometry.

Unlike the smooth anonymity of its mass produced counterpart, the chair bears the irregularities of cutting, foiling, and soldering, making the labor of craft present and unavoidable. These human traces, giving the form a skeletal, almost devotional presence, pays homage to the ever present forms that go unnoticed. Folding Chair exists as an inversion of the original form it embodies.

Slowed down through a painstaking, hand-driven process, the once invisible folding chair becomes a fragile, luminous study of craft, structure, and human care, inviting a reconsideration of the overlooked ubiquitous objects that quietly occupy our lives.
