Apex acts as a gateway to Wesleyan University’s Long Lane Farm, creating three distinct spaces for community gathering, dry storage, and composting. The project was designed and constructed in collaboration with twelve architecture students, Wesleyan’s Eco-Facilitator program, and the students working at Long Lane Farm.

The culmination of a collaborative design-build under Wesleyan’s North Studio design laboratory, Apex serves as a locus for social gathering and farm operations on Wesleyan's Long Lane Farm. The careful integration of local materials and salvage practices into demountable, renewable, and loose-tolerance systems represents a commitment to both the maintenance and care of the project and the circularity of the farm's operations.

Engaging with the site’s dynamic conditions, the triangular structure physically frames the larger landscape, offering a  sheltered threshold from which to transition to farm operations. With seating for community meetings and performances, open air storage, and composting receptacles, Apex addresses both communal and functional needs of the farm.
